Stretch Hooder for varying types of load
The hooder requires no compressed air, it does not use hydraulics, it is therefore purely electro mechanical in operation. The machine is classed as a ‘Flex’ as it can handle varying types of pallet and dimension being able to self adjust at random as the loads can be tracked. The load height is measured by means of an ultra sonic sensor, the hood length is then determined and the seal made at low level. The hood is then transported to hig level between 2 belts and fed into the centre of the machine to be opened by vacuum cups. Once partially opened, there are mechanical fingers which physically open the hood into a rectangle. Then the stretching arms move in and pinch the film and start to roll the hood down to a rope. Then the fingers pull out all at the same time and the hood is stretched open and then rolled down the load in a controlled manner. We are able to create up to 15% downward stretch with a combination of the feed roller speed and carriage descent speed working together. The machine can use coloured film with UV inhibitors and these days with 30% recycled film, which means that customers can avoid paying waste taxation.

Frequently Asked Questions
A stretch hooder creates a sealed hood that’s pulled over the load, giving five-side dust and water protection plus extra stability from vertical and horizontal stretch.
No — it’s fully electro-mechanical, so no pneumatics or hydraulics are required.
The Flex configuration tracks each load, uses an ultrasonic sensor to measure height and self-adjusts at random without recipe changes.
The film is sealed at low level to create the hood, then conveyed to high level before opening and application.
The hood is opened by vacuum cups and mechanical fingers that square it into a rectangle before application.
Stretching arms pinch and roll the hood into a rope, then roll it down in a controlled way to the pallet.
Yes — it can deliver up to ~15% downward stretch, combining feed-roller speed and carriage descent speed.
Up to 100 pallets per hour, depending on load variation and film settings.
Yes — by applying vertical tension, it can reduce film consumption versus looser hoods.
Yes — hoods provide fully dust- and water-proof packaging when applied correctly.
It runs standard stretch-hood film, including coloured film with UV inhibitors and films with up to ~30% recycled content.
Yes — the film used is 100% recyclable, helping you meet sustainability goals and avoid waste taxation when using recycled content policies.
The system has a modular, compact design with a freestanding HMI for simple integration and operation.
Yes — it’s suitable for AGV/cobot cells, e.g., Nipper AGV delivering loads into the hooding station.
